'These paintings are a series. They are a reaction and response to places I have either travelled to, or imagined. I make trips into various landscapes, to document them with photography and drawing. The act of making a journey is a key part of my practice. I then returned to my studio in London, to create images that are built up through many thin layers of oil glaze.
None of the paintings are topographical, instead they are an overlaying of various images and landscapes, creating fictitious scenes that attach no specific memory, rather a feeling of universal familiarity and other worldliness.'
